Since its inception, benevolence has always been one of the guiding principles of Freemasonry. Members regularly give both time and money to help others, whether that is within the local community, on a national scale or even globally. It may be realising a dream for a member’s child, caring for older Freemasons, volunteering on a local community project, making donations to other UK charities or responding to an international disaster appeal.
In the UK, Freemasons are one of the UK’s top charities raising over £48 million in 2019 and one of its main grant-giving bodies. No-one is expected to give anything they can’t afford and even small amounts can add up to a large amount because there are so many of us.
The Masonic Charitable Foundation builds better lives by enabling opportunity, advancing healthcare and education and promoting independence for Freemasons, their families and the wider community.
Funded entirely through the generosity of Freemasons and their families, the Masonic Charitable Foundation is one of the largest grant-making charities in the country.
A wide range of help and support is available for Freemasons, their wives, partners, widows, children and grandchildren. Most of the support provided takes the form of financial grants to assist with financial, health or family related needs.
